  Hand Blades
These simple sheep shearing devices date back a very long way and even to the biblical times. These sheep shearing blades or “tongs” as the old blokes used to call them are very collectable.

The one piece models that were made before mechanisation are the most sought after.
A Salon, Algerian Shear possibly 300 Years old. This shear is 450mm long and 150 across. Very similar to the blade in the Dangar Gedye Book, 1938.
This sheep shearing blade is a one piece possibly as early as 1860. The inscription reads Murray & Darling Shear. It is made by I. H. Sorby.

These sheep shears (left)
are all from Europe and
most likely used on goats
or very open wool xbred
type sheep.
