A vast array of books, catalogues, manuals and written material is available to the collector of sheep shearing related items and memorabilia. Many books have been written about shearing sheep, woolsheds, the Australian sheep shearer and they all serve to enlighten you if you are interested in sheep shearing collectables.
Many famous companies have been written about and so have stories been written about sheep shearers and characters in the shearing/wool industry. For the sheep shearing collector a few are certainly worth mentioning.


Australian Woolsheds, by Harry Sowden, is almost a must for the admirer of Australian Woolsheds. Contains an excellent display of the Dangar Gedye collection of very old handpieces. A must to have.
This book, written in 1938, celebrates 100 years service by Dangar Gedye to the Australian Rural Industry.
A must for the serious observer of life in the Australian sheep shearing //wool industry.

Besides the above books there is an amazing amount of other books, brochures and catalogues etc that are a must to have if you wish to identify some of the things you might collect and you can’t have enough written sheep shearing material to enhance your knowledge. The early companies produced some very colourful material.
